Welcome
to The Guessing Game

Somebody has to keep Vegas' lights on and that is what we are here to do. If confidence resulted in wins, we would never lose. Sadly, it doesn't, and that's why sports betting is ultimately The Guessing Game.

Who Would Have Thought: The Bears Still Suck

Tommy Bets

After a full slate of games where underdogs were winning left and right, some even coming back from three scores down, the Bears reminded us they still suck. Coming into Lambeau for the week 2 Sunday Night Football game, the Bears saw themselves as 10 point underdogs coming off their week 1 win* against the 49ers. I would like to emphasize the asterisks I put after the win, as the game in general was a fluke. The 49ers most likely rushed their decision to go with Trey Lance (T's & P's for a speedy recovery) and went into Chicago and played in what ended up being a very sloppy game. In non stop rain, the shitty Soldier Field didnt stand a chance, as we saw before kickoff even that it was already beat to shreds. As seen by the Bears players doing slip and slides after the game, the field condition and weather played a big factor in what made the game sloppy, which should favor the home team and underdog (Bears +6.5).

Now if I am going to talk about the Bears fluke win, you know what is coming next. The Packers week 1 games CONTINUE to be flukes. I see it as their fourth preseason game. Rodgers doesnt touch the field in preseason and neither does 80% of the starters. As seen last year against the Saints (38-3 loss for the Pack), we never seem to really...care? This year was unfortunate that week 1 had to be against a division rival, which I think made it extra-easy to overreact. The Vikings came out hot, Justin Jefferson looked like the bst WR in the league, and Green Bay's offense although scoring more than 3 looked very similar to what we saw week 1 in 2021.

With all of this occuring in week 1, and the loss of Davante Adams for the Packers (R.I.P) (He didnt die, he just joined the Raiders this offseason), the spread opened and stayed around Packers -10 for the most part. Let me remind you that this game is being played in LAMBEAU FIELD on SNF. The last two years, as these teams regularly meet on SNF usually in Green Bay were as followed:

2020: CHI 30 - 45 GB

2021: CHI 25 - 41 GB

Dominance, one may say. Or as one Aaron Rodgers would say, "I own you, I still fucking own you".

The game started with both teams scoring on their opening drives, the Packers getting a field goal and the Bears having a nice looking 7 play 80 yard TD drive. Too bad that is about all they did in the first half with the Packers dominating the rest of the first quarter and the entirety of the second to go into half time up 24-7. Aaron Jones outscored the Bears himself and Justin Fields had 6 total passes. On the opening drive, it seemed like David Montgomery was going to wreck havoc the rest of the game. He had 4 carries for 38 yards on the drive, and you dont have to be a math major to know thats a good average YPC. But in honor of ex coach Matt Nagy, they decided to go away from what was working and go 3-and-out their next 3 possesions and only ran one time during those, finding themselves kneeling it into halftime on their 5th and final first half posession.

Coming out of halftime you would think the Bears would go back to their run heavy game script it seemed they had on their first drive, but nope. Three and out, no Montgomery runs. Luckily for them, the Packers who seemed to be having a nice first drive being put together had a rough communication error between Rodgers and Dillon and fumbled between the exchange and the Bears took over on their own 31. And what did they do? They ran the damn ball to Montgomery! 4 carries for 28 yards led to a Bears FG. Their very next drive, after a quick Packer punt, 6 carries for 61 yards for Montgomery and 2 carries for 33 yards for Herbert. For those good at counting thats 94 yards on one drive, or 24 MORE yards than Fields threw for the ENTIRE GAME. Sure, 7-11 isnt bad, but you arent going to win an away game against a superior opponent if your QB throws for 70 yards only, even if your RB1 was 15 for 122 (Which was Montgomerys final stat line). Too bad those 94 yards were all for nothing, as Fields got stuffed at the goal line and the Bears turned it over on downs after a very nice 13 play 89 yard drive.

Now yes, some may say he was in, but there just wasnt a clear cut shot that was able to overturn it. Me, as a Packer fan and a -10 bettor, will not be complaining. If I was a Bear fan or +10 bettor? Outside NFL's HQ rioting. That pretty much wrapped up the game, as the Packers marched down the field 89 yards and got a Crosby FG to cash the team total o26.5 and then two plays after that Fields threw the game ending interception.

So after a week of having to listen to "The Bears are back", "The Packers can't do anything without Adams" (Shoutout his 2 receptions for 12 yards this week), "Bears +10 is a lock", the Packers once again come out on top 27-10, which if we are counting, which we are not, means they have beat the Bears 17 of the last 20 times. Is that good? You tell me. (Yes it is, that is very good).

So after a crazy week 2 and underdogs making all sorts of comebacks, I would just like to remind you all, The Bears. Still. Suck.

P.S. That ayahuasca touchdown celebration the Packers did after the Lazard touchdown was electric.

P.P.S. Talking about drugs and sports, make Baseball interesting again by just legalizing steroids.
